We catalog
the forgotten,
seriously.
Retro collectibles are scattered across a dozen platforms, each optimized for volume, none for care. Retromaniac is the opposite bet — fewer listings, better photographed, graded honestly, sold by people who love what they list.
That collectors will trade convenience for confidence. That a catalog can feel like walking into a good record shop. That restraint is a feature.
Three clean steps.
Dealers apply
Every shop is reviewed by hand. We look for honest grading, clean photography, and a point of view.
They list carefully
Listings include provenance, pressing info, visible flaws. No filters, no euphemism. Our editors spot-check weekly.
You buy with confidence
Order via Stripe. Items ship directly from the dealer, insured. If anything's off, you have 14 days to return.
Things we get asked.
Missing something? Send us a note and we'll answer in person.
How does grading work?+
Our dealers use the six-point scale on every listing. Mint is unplayed; Poor is for parts. Dealers are required to describe flaws explicitly — no euphemisms. If an item arrives misgraded, we refund within 14 days, full stop.
Who can sell on Retromaniac?+
Anyone can apply, but every dealer goes through a manual review. We're a curated catalog, not an open marketplace — we'd rather have 300 conscientious sellers than 30,000 indifferent ones.
What are your fees?+
8% commission on sold items. No listing fees, no subscriptions, no promoted placements. We make money when our sellers do.
How does shipping work?+
Sellers ship directly. We provide label templates and packing guidelines, but every item comes from the hands that found it. Orders over $200 ship free within the US.
What if an item arrives damaged?+
Open a return within 14 days. We mediate between buyer and seller and issue a full refund if the dealer can't resolve it. Our dispute rate is under 0.4%.
Talk to a person.
We answer every note, usually same-day. The team is small — four editors, two engineers, and a logistics person named Gus.
